Taking Shape

The house is sheetrocked!  I just looked it up: All Sheetrock can be called drywall, but all drywall cannot be called Sheetrock.  So, it's like Kleenex.  I don't know what brand they used, but it's almost done.  It took three days to do the living spaces, and will take another for the basement.  Those guys are like a tornado--get out of their way!  It looks so clean and snug.  Now, lots of mudding.

The family room (above) will have beams, the living and dining rooms (below) will have a low-profile coffering.  All with painted tongue and groove between.

I've always planned for a lens (white plastic material at the beam level) on the skylight over the stairway--to filter the light and bring the ceiling down.  But most people like seeing the shaft and skylight itself.  It does look dramatic, but I think the look is too contemporary for the house.

The stone work continues on the patio, with the bench (wood storage underneath) at the chimney.  That's an eight-foot slab of limestone.  More coming for the corners.

And the breezeway glass is being installed via crane--and huge magnets.
